I haven't spent much time with Dad today. I got him up at 6:40 this morning and then left for work at 7:00 as usual. Simon had a soccer game tonight, so our wonderful sitter kept him until we got home. When I got up during the night last night to change him, I thought about how easy it has been lately to do the night time change. I don't set my alarm, but I guess it's my internal clock that gets me up, usually around 2:00am. I walk in to his room and turn on the light. I gently rub his leg and say "Dad, we need to change your pants". I let him wake up for a second and then I pull the covers back and push his legs toward the floor. Then I say, "Stand up for me." He'll say, "Stand up?" and I'll answer, "Yea, we need to change your pants." "Now take off your underpants" He'll say, "Take these off?" and I'll say "Yea." He'll pull them off and then I'll say, "Now, take off your t-shirt." I have wipes, clean t-shirt and a depend ready, as well as a new pad for the bed. I lay the t-shirt, which is usually wet at the bottom, on the pad and then quickly pull it out and replace a new pad before he sits back down. Then we put on his clean t-shirt and depend. And I tell him he can lay back down. He goes right back to sleep and most of the time I do too. It probably only takes 4 or 5 minutes and lately we've seemed to be in sync with no issues - thank heavens! It's time for bed..... Susie
